COVID Update – Day 6

We’re going a little more stir crazy then we were at last check-in, but most importantly everyone remains relatively happy and healthy. James’ PCR test came back negative so he is definitely on the mend. He still has a cough that comes and goes – again, feast or famine – but otherwise you’d never know he was sick.

Which takes us to Gemma.

We had her tested yesterday (PCR) and received her results back today: Positive. This was not surprising; she had been running a slight fever for about a 24 hour period earlier in the week and has been a bit grumpy. The fever is gone now and so far ongoing grumpiness falls between the error bars of “is four” – fingers crossed that we’ve seen the worst of it.

We’re still quarantining from everyone (it’s like the early days of the pandemic! Such fond memories.) and being extremely cautious to continue to wear masks and wash hands regularly inside the house. So far the adults continue to be as healthy as is usual. Hopefully that continues. In the meantime, I’ve canceled business travel next week and Elizabeth’s November surgery will be getting rescheduled (again). Ugh.

I’ll leave you with a couple of pictures from today and to reiterate: we’re generally okay, and looking forward to getting past this and moving on with our lives. Speaking of which in a cruel twist of bad timing, James is now scheduled to receive his first vaccine dose next Thursday. We almost made it….but we’re going to get there all the same.

Mask off for a picture…then right back on!
I don’t know.
On the plus side – we’re well into fall weather and that means our backyard has become as usable as a room in the house. Fresh air and sun in quarantine!

Love to all,
–Randall
